Known as one of the most versatile voices in Latin America and now North America, Maria Rivas skillfully combines American and Latin Jazz rhythms with lively yet sentimental music from around the world.  She interprets her music in English, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese, and performs her own blend of traditional standards as well as music and lyrics she has composed herself.

Concert/Lecture featuring: Joan Cartwright, (vocals, Executive Director, Women in Jazz South Florida, Inc); Roberta DeMuro (piano); Renee Fiallos (flute/voice)
Amazing Musicwomen is an historical lecture with songs, photographs and artwork that chronicle the lives of women who wrote and performed blues and jazz music, including Gertrude "Ma" Rainey, Bessie Smith, Alberta Hunter, Ethel Waters, Lil Harding Armstrong, Mary Lou Williams, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, and others. Concert selections include compositions of Duke Ellington, Fats Waller, Billie Holiday, Cole Porter, Norman Mapp and Joan Cartwright

The South Florida Jazz Summit is a fundraising event produced annually by the Jazz Museum of Florida, Inc (dba Jazzonian), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All proceeds from this event go to the Jazzonian Young Jazz Leaders Scholarship initiative and community outreach jazz education programs under the aegis of the Jazz Museum of Florida, Inc.
